Make a difference for a homebound Sussex County, Delaware senior. On Christmas morning volunteers deliver a complete roast turkey dinner, a Poinsettia and a Christmas gift to an appreciative senior who has no family in the area. The volunteers not only deliver meals, but they are many times the only person the senior may see on Christmas day much less receive a present. Volunteers also bring pet food so the senior does not have to share their Christmas meal with their pets.
What makes this program so unique is the joy and willingness of the volunteers to set aside their own Christmas celebration for a few hours and share a bit of themselves with the homebound senior. Families have brought their young children to volunteer – young children who have grown over the years to adulthood and now bring their young children to volunteer on Christmas morning.
If you or your organization would like to volunteer to deliver a meal on Christmas morning or if you would like to donate a wrapped gift, non-perishable food item, or pet food for Operation Christmas CHEER, contact Robin Greene at rgreene@cheerde.com or call her at 302-853-4199.
Remember, CHEER supplies the meal and the gift – you supply the Christmas warmth and love for a homebound senior.
